Monday in Monterey

It's been a long day, but a good one. I went down to the beach at first light, admiring the calligraphy of kelp and watching the waves crash in, and I went out on the balcony at every break, trying to catch the waves as they broke and the gulls gliding by.

In the evening we went out on foot in search of pizza and found instead a tiny Mexican restaurant run by a couple of women who barely spoke English. The food was delicious, and very different from the Sonoran cuisine we usually get in Tucson.
