Wet weekend
Jan. 8th, 2006 06:34 pmNot the weather, which has been lovely, and so dry that my hair crackles with static.
I had a guest on Friday night, and went up to Phoenix for Saturday night, so this was not the optimal time for all the plumbing in my apartment to reach the end of its useful life. I loaded the dishwasher on Friday and noticed that there was water in the cabinet under the sink. Further investigation revealed a rust-hole in the bottom of the garbage disposal. I reported this, and the slow leaks on both kitchen and bathroom sink faucets, to the office in the morning, and went about my business.
I just got home, and found:
a) A nice new garbage disposal and elegant new faucet in the kitchen.
b) A leak under the bathroom sink where the trap has been relocated and the new length of drainpipe not properly sealed in.
c) A rust-hole in the underneath of the bathroom sink where the overflow drain comes down, which looks as though the whole sink will have to be replaced.
d) A drip from the cold-water inlet under the kitchen sink.
I have placed receptacles appropriately, and will be contacting the office again in the morning.
Other than that, it was a nice weekend, but tiring. Someone's alarm clock was going off this morning at frequent intervals from 5am on, not loud but enough to stop me getting back to sleep.
