ellarien: bookshelves (books)
It hardly seems possible, but I've been perusing the Locus list, and as far as I can see there are only four SF/Fantasy books coming out in the next six months that interest me. (Then, in May, six come along at once.) The Locus list isn't exhaustive, but searching Amazon for known authors isn't giving me anything either.

I have to wonder; is the field really shrinking, or am I just getting pickier in my old age? I know I've dropped a few authors over the years, but I've found new ones too. This time last year, I'd already picked out my book purchases into the middle of this year, four and five and six to a month, and I was laying plans to whittle the backlog down to nothing in the confident expectation that there would be more good books to which to look forward.

Somehow, though, I doubt I'll actually run out of books to read. I might do more rereading next year, if worst comes to worst. (And if anyone wants to try suggesting authors I should be reading, please feel free.)
