Adventures in technology
Nov. 10th, 2005 07:34 pmI'm still exploring the capabilities of my new mobile phone, which is a pretty basic model but still capable of playing a game or two and functioning as a simple organizer. What I hadn't found anywhere in the manual was the bit where it gets lonely and randomly dials numbers on the contacts list.
I was waiting at the bus stop this morning when my pocket started buzzing and emitting vaguely musical noises. I fished out the phone, thinking it was most likely just a reminder for a meeting, and realized that I was in fact being called by a colleague in Colorado, whose number I had stored in the phone for future reference, but whom I had never knowingly called or been called by. I answered, and we had a brief confused conversation -- not a complete waste, as there was something I needed to ping her about. Afterwards, I checked the phone's records -- and yes, it had called her, a minute before she called back. Presumably some random mashing of keys as I walked achieved this feat, but it was quite disconcerting.
I have now found out how to lock the keypad.
