Hmm

The tracking page is now showing that my package was delivered yesterday morning. I'm reasonably sure that this did not in fact happen, as the Receiving people are usually very good about bringing things over. I took a screenshot; I predict that by Monday it will be showing delivery on Saturday, and the package will actually show up on Tuesday. I think this has happened before, but this time I will have the electron trail to prove it.

Saturday shopping

I have restocked the food cabinet and fridge, at least sufficiently to get me through the week, and obtained enough yarn for this baby afghan and the next one. (I am even less safe to be let loose in a yarn aisle than in a bookstore, once I get going.) I also have a couple of new pillows, between which and the old ones I hope to find some combination to keep the shoulder happier. (One of the old ones is very old indeed, a feather one that I inherited, used, from my first landlady twenty years ago; I suspect that it is by this stage basically a beanbag full of quills.) I was amused to notice that some pillows were marked 'ideal for people who enjoy a comfortable night's sleep', which doesn't seem like a very useful marker. And who sleeps on their stomach? How do they breathe?

I have also purchased and set up my very first mobile phone. I'd resisted heretofore, largely because I have very little use for phones in general, and even less when I'm not at home or in the office; I make maybe a dozen voice calls a month. On the other hand, sometimes when I'm travelling it would be handy not to be reliant on public payphones. So, I'll see how this goes, and if I find myself using it all the time I can always consider getting a grown-up one with an actual contract.

Now, I think, it's time to put in a movie and get started on that afghan.
