My package was in my mailbox when I got in to work this morning, so I now have my copy of The Hallowed Hunt sitting on my imminent-reading shelf. For some reason, a new Bujold seems to demand a certain ceremony in the reading; at the least, a comfortable disposition of myself on the couch, with some suitable background music. I remember carefully cleaning the apartment before I settled down with A Civil Campaign, which was one of my first on-line purchases. I'm tempted to fall into it right now, but I need to put in some writing time first.

Last night's experience suggests that trying to do serious quantities of writing on the laptop in the recliner may be bad for my wrists, which are in fairly good shape considering the amount of sloppy untrained keyboarding I've done over the last twenty years or so but do twinge from time to time when I overdo it. I have a study, book-lined and decorated with puzzles, with a desktop computer at a nice desk, but I'm long, long out of the habit of writing there; the desktop is old (five years), creaky, and annoying, and my feet appreciate being up in the evenings, particularly in summer.

So: a bargain with myself. Into the study, write until 9, then feet up and Bujold?
