It's raining again, pattering heavily on the roof; I just got home in time after my excursion to Best Buy. Riding the bus back, I could see the clouds greying out the mountains, and by the time I was walking from the bus-stop there were scribbled lines of lightning here and there. It feels more like July or August than the end of May.
The Best Buy excursion was a bit of an odyssey, due to the roadworks and related rearrangement of buses and suspension of stops. On my first attempt, I walked in the direction of the designated alternate stop, which was the opposite direction to the one in which I wanted to go, missed the bus and went to the grocery store instead, as I was there anyway by that time. On the second try, I attempted walking along what is normally the route in the mall-ward direction, but the first two stops were suspended, and when I did find a working one there was no sign of a bus, and no shade, and I was already halfway there and decided to keep going. In normal late-May conditions, and with no water, this would have been imprudent; as it was, it wasn't too bad. On the way back, I realized what was going on; because of the messed-up state of the intersection the buses are being diverted a block further north before joining/leaving the north-south part of the route. Getting to work next week is not going to be fun, I suspect.
