I took the laptop to Phoenix this weekend, but I'm not sure it was worth it for the half-hour's work I got done last night. I had to resort to using it as an extra Bible for this morning's Sunday school class (now with 25% extra students), whereas if I hadn't had it to carry I'd have brought the spare, larger-print one instead. The students were pleasingly undistracted by the thing, at least, which is good to know for future reference. Of course, having run the battery down doing that, I couldn't use it to work on the trip back ... It was a nice visit, though, and I got to walk the dog and feed handfuls of grain to the burro -- a rather tickly experience, that, with muscular, rubbery lips fumbling over my palm.

I saw a lady at the airport with a chihuaha in a t-shirt. It wasn't one of the ridiculously tiny ones, and it seemed calm and alert, looking around with interest from her lap, but its legs were about as thick as my fingers, which made the whole thing look worryingly fragile.

It's starting to be hot enough that the three-quarter-mile walk across campus from shuttle to city bus is a gruelling slog, particularly when carrying two fairly heavy bags.

After that, perhaps Donaldson's Runes of the Earth will have to wait a bit longer; I'm not sure I'm up for another grim fantasy right now!
