Back home, I thought of Yuccas as finicky and rather dull foliage plants. Here, they're small trees, and produce these three-foot spires of creamy blossom in the Spring.

For the first time since last September, I've decided to skip my alternate-weekend trip to Phoenix. I'm tired, I'm still congested even on two Benadryl a day, and for the first time since Christmas I'm not needed to teach Sunday school.

This isn't something I do lightly, so I now feel it incumbent on myself to make the weekend count -- both by getting enough stuff done to feel that life is somewhat under control, and by getting some rest. Real rest, or at least relaxation, not just sitting in the recliner idly poking at the internet.

So:
