This seems to be the week for orange blossom!
Orange Blossom

There are orange trees all over campus -- mostly the bitter ornamental ones, not edible. The blossom is coming close to its peak now. I can't post the scent, sweet and heavy and not quite sharp, but I could show you some pictures of bees patronizing the flowers. Most of the trees still have fruit -- the 'apples of gold in pictures of silver' effect.

A few years ago, some students were assigned to make art from found objects around campus. They laid out an elaborate design of fallen oranges. Unfortunately, it impinged on a path, and the groundskeeping people were not impressed. The flap made the front page of the student paper.

Phew!

It isn't the middle of March yet. I'm running the AC. Just for a little while, to cool the place down a bit before I go to bed. (I can't abide having it running when I'm trying to sleep, even in the most sweltering depths of summer.)

It was well over 80 today. On my lunchtime photographic excursion, I found myself reminded that I really don't do too well in the summers here. The days of wandering blissfully in the noonday sun, snapping pictures of every flower that catches my eye, are numbered. I think I may even be a little sunburned.
