Home again
Jan. 27th, 2005 11:37 pmPretty much Monday's trip in reverse, but bypassing the train and the rental car terminal and finishing with a cab ride home. There turns out to be quite a nice little bookstore right behind security in San Francisco's Terminal 3. They had two of the books on February's list, but I refrained from buying anything. I finished The Language of Power (Rosemary Kirstein) on the SFO-LAX hop. I enjoyed it a lot -- others may disagree, but it seemed to me that it was much connected to the earlier books and the overarching story than The Lost Steersman was, and the last hundred pages or so were a delight. Now I want to read the next one! I got about 100 pages into Spin State (Chris Moriarty) on the LAX-Tucson leg. That's rather harder SF than I'm used to, but I think the reading protocols are engaging properly.
Now I'm home, trying to ingest enough calories to let me sleep through the night. The new water heater is in place and working. Looks like people have been walking on my living room carpet in outdoor shoes, sigh.
