Rainy day around Keswick, September 1990.

The pictures I've posted to my gallery so far are heavily cherry-picked, a handful of my favourite images from the last fifteen years or so. Considering the low-end nature of my cameras, it's not too surprising that most of them were taken on bright sunny days. This one was an exception. We went to Keswick at least three times, in different years, and it rained every time. I still loved the view down the lake, with that low peak between two higher ones forming a foreground to another layer of hills behind; a little grey haze just made it more alluring.

The only problem with spending the weekend in Phoenix is that by the time I get back I don't want to do much more than vegetate in front of the TV with the computer on my lap, paying only vague attention to either, until bedtime. Usually, this doesn't matter too much. Tomorrow, however, I'm leaving for a meeting at Stanford, which means that before I leave home in the morning I need to

  • Unpack my weekend bag.
  • Pack my going-away bag.
  • Put the living room back together to be decent for the people who are supposed to be replacing the water heater.
  • Take out the trash, including a three-foot square sheet of corrugated cardboard.
  • Find an ethernet cable.
  • Make up my mind whether to take the real laptop or Old Laptop (which is slow and creaky and has a not-great PC-card wireless antenna, but would save about four pounds of weight and a couple of books-worth of bag space.) [Resolved in favour of real laptop.]
  • Pick up the mail, I suppose.
  • Run the dishwasher.

And I am really not a morning person, so I'd better do at least the first three of these tonight.
