I really hope today isn't going to set the pattern for the year. Right now I seem to have the choice between having my nose and sinuses full of liquescent glue and being zonked-out on antihistamines -- not that it takes much to do that. So I haven't done anything productive today at all, other than hang calendars. I've been lying on the couch reading Pratchett, so there could be worse ways to spend a spare Saturday.

My mother informs me that calendar-wise this is 1994, 1983 and 1977, and my 1977 Basil Ede birds are now once more hanging in my bedroom at home. Re-using nice calendars is a long tradition in the family, but I didn't go so far as to ship old ones across the Atlantic when I moved, so my collection only goes back to 1997. However, I have new ones for the kitchen, bedroom and living room, plus two at work. The AAS promised to send out copies of theirs, too, which features one of my graphics. (Which reminds me: must pay dues!). My main living-room one for 2005 is a WHSmith one with views of the Peak District, while my mother has an American one with Southwestern landscapes.
