The weather forecast is a giving 30% chance of snow in Tucson on Friday morning, though even if it happens it's not likely to be much, and we certainly can't match the frigid temperatures reported from points east and north.
After relighting my water heater for the third time in a year, the Management has expressed a wish to replace it next month -- not because it keeps blowing out, but because it has a 'tiny leak', which I presume wasn't noticeable when they did an emergency all-complex inspection of water heaters a few months back. I'm not complaining, anyway. The thing must be well over twenty years old, and by the sound of it has several inches of sludge on the bottom. I must say, though, that it hasn't been terribly extravagant to run. I was horrified when I first moved in here, fresh from the UK, and realized that the water heater not only had no protective down jacket, but was designed to be switched on all the time rather than being manually or electronically run for a strategic half hour a day. In practice, I don't think it's actively heating for all that long each day, and it probably uses less gas than the pilot light on the furnace.
