Friday roundup
Apr. 7th, 2006 08:59 pmThe saguaro in the cactus garden is in bud again, and so are various prickly pears and indian figs and one stalk of cleistocactus. Last year I spotted the first saguaro buds on the 11th, and the first open flower a week later, which I thought was rather early.
My left ankle is swollen and uncomfortable for no apparent reason. Maybe I slept on it wrong, maybe it's just objecting to some tiny scratch or sting; it's been a bit cranky that way since it got a bad insect bite a few years ago.
The innards of my toilet cistern seem to have disintegrated; the flapper valve is only held on at one corner. It is possible to shut the valve by manual adjustment, for now, so it isn't a panic emergency. Why does the plumbing always die on the weekend?
