Several months ago, the Management replaced my ancient, yellowed venetian blinds with cheap plastic vertical ones. I can't believe it took me this long to realize that the slats can actually be pushed to one side as well as rotated. Mind you, I don't spend all that many daylight hours at home.
My entrance door has been sticking lately. I'd thought it was the lock, and was thinking of investing in a tin of oil, but closer inspection revealed that in fact it's simply sticking at the jamb, and a good shove will open it once the lock is undone. It could be that the brass plate that receives the latch from the doorknob, retrofitted by some helpful maintenance guy a year or two back, has slipped out of line. I think I may have to ask Management to send a man around with a few tools.
A couple of months ago, I bought a small bookcase for my DVD collection. It came with one removable shelf, but the unit is high enough to take three rows of DVDs, so I ordered an extra shelf. It finally came in, and I picked it up on Saturday. It didn't come with pegs; it must say something about me that I knew exactly where to find the dozen spares left over from a previous purchase. (In the pink plastic trinket box with a fantasy castle on the lid, on a bookshelf in the study.)
