It rained today, for the first time in nearly three months. It wasn't much, just a sprinkle that barely wetted the sidewalks, but it was enough to bring out the faint, sharp scent of rained-on desert. I have no idea where the campus hides its creosote bushes, but every time it rains, there's that fragrance. The sky stayed grey all day, which always seems to leave me feeling as if there isn't enough caffeine in the world to wake me up properly.

We're going to Monterey next week. The weather forecast, especially for our afternoon off on Wednesday, does not look too promising. It's rarely possible to improve on Tucson's weather by going elsewhere in the northern hemisphere at this time of year.
