ellarienWe had just a little bit of warm, dust-scented rain this afternoon, thanks to Hurricane Otis.
There was some excitement in the neighbourhood of work this morning. I noticed as I was coming in on the bus that there was something going on along the east-west street to the north of the campus, with emergency services all over the place and police hurrying around blocking off side-streets. It turned out that someone tried to hold up a bank by claiming (presumably in writing) to have a bomb in his duct-taped mouth. The police got to play with their bomb-disposal robot, but didn't find actual explosives. The suspect turned out to be a vacationing sergeant from one of the local bases, and apparently it isn't the first time he tried to rob the same bank.
Surface would be better if it was actually any good, but it has sea monsters and submarines and mad scientists, and what more could an Irwin Allen fan want?
